With this thought in mind, let us look at the situation in the United States today:
Those who are rich or powerful are allowed to commit all the crime they want. Furthermore, they are free from any punishment.
In Philadelphia, we are building a prison while we close public schools.
We have the highest prison population of any country, with those being imprisoned being the poor and minorities.
We have a homophobic candidate running for US Senate from New Jersey, who during his campaign said: "I'll be as callous and uncaring as you can imagine. I have no interest in paying for your health care. I'd hate to see you get cancer, but that's your problem, not mine.”
We have the highest health care costs, lowest life expectancy, and highest child morality rates of any western country. Yet rather than address this, our elected officials decided it would be better to shut down the federal government.
And so I must ask, how is the United States today any different from Sodom?
